2003: Foundation of the company
Alcatraz was created as a solution to bring companies in line with the provisions of Directive 95/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data.
2007: Partner Community
Years after the launch of the first software for data protection management in companies, Alcatraz consolidates a distribution channel with more than 500 partners distributed throughout the country, reaching 25% of the market share.
2012: International expansion
Alcatraz begins its international expansion in Latin America by applying its business model. It is in this year when it opens its first office in Bogotá (Colombia) in view of the recent approval of the Statutory Law 1581 on data protection in the country.
2014: Cybersecurity line
The development and planning of a line of cybersecurity products dedicated to small and medium businesses begins, using tools and solutions developed in-house, as well as strategic agreements with leading manufacturers in their sector.
2016: Acquisition of Bitdefender
In June 2016, Alcatraz acquires the franchise in Spain of the Bitdefender antivirus (SOHO channel) in a model of total exclusivity. The firm has more than 500 million users internationally and has been awarded as the best antivirus on the market.
2018: Launch of Alcatraz GDPR
Following the approval of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), it launches Alcatraz GDPR, a new solution specialized in helping consultants and data protection delegates in their work as privacy professionals.
